California Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant uses no fresh water, and can provide 825,000 gallons of fresh water a day for the community. Molten Salt Reactors could power desalination equipment for all of USA.
Molten Salt Reactors make CO2-free electricity and CO2-neutral vehicle fuel, with far less long-term nuclear waste than nuclear reactors we have been using.
Response to “Colorado’s Fracking Woes Show Fight Brewing in Oklahoma, Texas and Other Drought-Ridden Areas”
Fracking uses water, often in drought-ridden areas, and leaves it highly polluted. LFTRs would use no water, and could desalinate water, providing clean water for agriculture.
Here’s what I wrote in response to “Nuclear Energy’s Future: Thorium”, by Zain Nayer, Matthew Liu, Gilbert Yang. There is zero risk of nuclear meltdown in a LFTR.
